19th-Apr-2009 10:03 pm - Size Acceptance Internet Poll
Hey all, I am trying to identify internet hubs so that I can choose appropriate sites to solicit participants who are size-accepting fat women for my dissertation project. I think I have a good idea of the well-traversed places, but obviously I do not represent all size-accepting fat women on the internet.

If you have the time, please tale the poll and ask your size-accepting fat women friends to do the same. Thanks!

Poll #1386525 Size Acceptance on the Internet
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 4

11th-Dec-2008 10:56 pm - Genderbread
We made gingerbread people tonight, and they were the fattest gingerbread people ever!!! This is the second one I decorated, and I was inspired to make a funky genderqueer gingerbread person. And for that it just had to have a polka-dot tie, which was a little meticulous. I was very proud. I'm calling it Fat Genderqueer Gingerbread Ninja because it looks like it's doing a jump-kick (though not so much in the second picture).

8th-Nov-2008 08:33 pm - Presents
oh snap
I'm really bad at thinking of presents for myself. So many of the things I "want" are things that I need, or things that are intangible or not something someone could give me. I'm not one to get terribly excited about "things"--not that I hate things or anything--and so when it comes to present ideas I don't get far beyond clothes...and my tastes and needs are very particular, so clothes are not an ideal suggestion.

So, my friends, what should I ask for? What are you asking for? What are your great gift ideas? Where do you find great gift ideas?

An Anthropological Introduction to YouTube

This is amazing....take the time to watch...no joke. I am moved.

From Michael Wesch:
presented at the Library of Congress, June 23rd 2008. This was tons of fun to present. I decided to forgo the PowerPoint and instead worked with students to prepare over 40 minutes of video for the 55 minute presentation. This is the result.

18th-Aug-2008 08:52 pm - LJ Hack?
dr. horrible, nph
Am I the only one who saw that the LJ site was hacked about 10-15 minutes ago? Seriously, I went to www.livejournal.com and there was a GIF of Bob the Builder in the upper left corner; one picture of Bob the Builder said, "Can they fix it?" (yes, someone's clever), and the other said something I can't remember, but included the word fuck.  I went to the site three times to make sure I wasn't crazy. The fourth time it was back to normal LJ. I quintuple checked to make sure I wasn't crazy by going back into my history and clicking on the page that said GIF, which then came up as the normal LiveJournal page.

I wish I had thought to screenshot it.
15th-Jul-2008 06:44 pm - Hip Hop Activists and American Heroes
arrrrg
I have been following Rebel Diaz for awhile now and the recent events are indicative of the police abuse of authority and police brutality that happens every day, except for the fact that it's getting national attention. This is how scared the police get when people are not okay blindly submitting to their authority/abuse of power. Rebel Diaz are real American heroes.

1st-Jul-2008 10:27 pm - COFRA Startup.
If you haven't already and would like to, please donate some money to the COFRA startup fund and become a founding member! Read more on BFB.

I am already tremendously amazed at the donations we have brought in so far and the support we have received.

That said, a non-profit starting out can almost never have too much money. Our goal was $330, but I'm pretty sure we were very conservative with the goal 1) because on Fundable you have to meet your goal to get the money and 2) because the number is based on only what we need at the present time to file non-profit paperwork.

The other stuff we are going to need to do, including getting and paying an accountant and our lawyer for all sorts of various things, we will most certainly need more money to accomplish. So if you've got $10 to spare to help start a fat rights organization, please donate!
30th-May-2008 10:21 pm - Samir, fuck yeah
baby, Yeah
The kid who just won the fucking National Spelling Bee....yeah, totally from where I live. How awesome is that? This is the most awesome thing that's happened to the Greater Lafayette area since I moved here...you know, other than Chris coming to live with me :)

BTW, I now have purple bangs. Pictures tomorrow.
